| Preliminary Contests | Many sponsoring groups have preliminary speech contests or essay contests. In each case these are governed by the sponsoring group. |
| Research | All interested students are encouraged to do as much research about the United Nations and current world issues, especially those related to the United Nations. Items to consider are not just those related to world conflicts but also health, economic, agricultural, industrial, and human and humane issuse. |
